Dave Kline rents a billboard near 34th and Wharton in West Philadelphia to help him find a date

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Fed up with using dating apps, a West Philadelphia man is exposing himself in a very public way.

Dave Kline, a 28-year-old data manager, rented a billboard in his neighborhood near 34th and Wharton streets and posted details about his search for a date.

He is a good cook, has normal hobbies and has a cat, which appears on the advertising billboard.

Kline spoke to Action News about her unique approach to finding a friend.

“It was supposed to be fun for the most part, but I’m not going to lie when I say the added benefit is that girls are now messaging me, which is great,” he said.

Those interested should contact Kline on his Instagram page: Date, Dave, Philly.

She has already received hundreds of direct messages with a target date of about a week after the sign was posted.

“I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow, it’ll probably be a little walk or something. People are very accommodating when they want an appointment, which I appreciate,” she said.

Kline said she’s also getting a lot of messages from people simply telling her the sign made their day, which she considers a big success.

He spent more than $1,000 to install the billboard over a month’s time.

As for her ideal date? She likes food, a formal dinner and lunch in the park.

Overall, he liked the idea of being featured on a billboard and thought it would be fun. He says the dating requests he’s been getting have turned out to be a big plus.
