Several West Texas school districts will offer free meals

PERMIAN BASIN, Texas (KOSA) – Several school districts in West Texas have announced plans for free meal programs in the 2024-2025 school year.

Midland Independent School District schools that qualify for the “Community Eligibility Program” will serve breakfast and lunch to all students at no charge. The district says all elementary schools and the Pre-K Academy at Midland College qualify.

All IDEA public schools in Texas are also serving free meals to students this year. IDEA Travis and IDEA Yukon are included in that plan.

Big Spring ISD’s ‘Community Eligibility Program’ will also provide free lunch and breakfast to students at all Big Spring ISD campuses.

According to our media partners at KBEST Media, Big Spring ISD is also giving out free school supplies to all of its students for the fifth consecutive year. Supplies will be distributed on the first day of school and parents will be required to provide a backpack for their child.
