Telangana man and his companion die in Saudi Arabian desert after losing GPS signal | World News

PTC News Desk: Mohammad Shehzad Khan, a 27-year-old man from Telangana, tragically died of dehydration and exhaustion in the Rub’ al Khali desert in Saudi Arabia. Shehzad, a resident of Karimnagar, had been working with a telecom company in Saudi Arabia for three years. He found himself trapped in the harsh and unforgiving terrain of the Empty Quarter, one of the most dangerous deserts in the world.

The Rub’ al Khali, or Empty Quarter, is a vast desert stretching 650 kilometres and covering parts of the southern regions of Saudi Arabia and extending into neighbouring countries. It is known for its extreme conditions.

The incident occurred when Shehzad and a Sudanese colleague became lost in the desert after their GPS failed. To make matters worse, Shehzad’s phone battery died, leaving them unable to call for help. Their situation was further worsened when their vehicle ran out of fuel, leaving them without food or water in the scorching desert heat.

Temperatures reached unbearable levels, so Shehzad and his companion struggled to survive, but eventually succumbed to severe dehydration and exhaustion. Their bodies were discovered four days later, on Thursday, next to their vehicle in the sand dunes.
