Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend Kayti Edwards reveals why she dumped him as she shares disturbing three-word daily phrases

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ex-girlfriend of late “Friends” star Matthew Perry has revealed that she left the actor because she “couldn’t watch him die,” and shared a terrifying three-word text she used to send him daily.

Kayti Edwards, Perry’s ex-girlfriend and former assistant, recently spoke out about the actor’s drug problem, revealing that she used to text him daily to check if he was still alive.

Kayti Edwards reveals she left him because she “couldn’t watch him die”

Following several arrests in connection with Matthew Perry’s death, his ex-girlfriend and former assistant, Kayti Edwards, has come forward to share the details of her heartbreaking breakup with the celebrity.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror US, Edwards revealed that she witnessed Perry’s addiction spiral out of control and personally experienced her daily struggle with the disease.

Edwards admitted that, despite having gotten close to him, there came a time when she was unable to work or maintain an intimate relationship with the troubled actor.

She revealed: “Matthew paid me very well as his assistant, but there came a time when he got so unwell that I had no choice but to give up that salary. But I knew I couldn’t watch him die. I could never, ever, ever live with myself.”

Edwards continued: “I had so many sleepless nights that I would come home and wake up at four in the morning texting him: ‘Are you alive? Are you alive? Just reply. Send me an emoji. Send me something that says you’re there.'”

“I couldn’t sleep at night because I knew what he was doing. And I think a part of me stayed there for so long, because if I didn’t stay, he would have been alone and gone his own way,” she added.

Edwards eventually convinced Perry to check into rehab in January 2011. She clarified: “I said, ‘I’m not going to do this anymore, Matthew. I’m sorry you’re going to hate me, but we’re going to put you in rehab.'”

In 2006, Edwards dated the ‘Friends’ actor and began working as his assistant in 2011. They remained friends until his death in October 2023 at the age of 54.

The ‘Chandler Bing’ actor was found dead face down in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on October 28.

Perry had struggled with ketamine addiction for some time, and his autopsy report indicated he died from the “acute effects of ketamine,” leading to his death being classified as an accident.

Kayti Edwards exposes group of doctors accused of illegally supplying drugs to Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry’s ex-girlfriend Kayti Edwards has spoken out following an investigation into the actor’s death that led to charges against five people, including Perry’s assistant, two doctors and a woman known as the “ketamine queen.”

She claimed the ’17 Again’ actor was illegally given drugs by an extensive network of questionable doctors and nurses for more than ten years.

The granddaughter of British actress Julie Andrews vividly recalled the disturbing moment when Perry menacingly told her: “I’m with the doctors.”

“There’s a whole network of people beyond those facing criminal charges that police need to investigate. Detectives just need to look into their medical history,” Edwards said.

“There are many more doctors who have been on his list over the years who will now be terrified. Whenever I was in an active addiction situation, I knew immediately who to turn to. It’s outrageous.”

Although his medication preferences had evolved over time, Edwards revealed that he maintained long-standing relationships with doctors.

“Ketamine was his new drug, but it all started when unscrupulous doctors prescribed him too many prescription pills, like Vicodin,” he said.

She continued: “When the charges were dropped, I knew it would be doctors… because that’s what he always did. I wasn’t surprised. His addict brain would think, ‘Well, a doctor prescribed it for me, so I can take it. ‘ In his head, it wasn’t like he was on the street buying drugs.”

Investigators revealed how Dr. Salvador Plasencia and his colleague Mark Chavez planned to administer a large dose of ketamine to the actor. In one message, Plasencia said: “I wonder how much this idiot will pay” and another said: “Let’s find out.”

Kayti Edwards expresses her dismay at Matthew Perry’s lack of attention

Kayti Edwards has also expressed her anger over the “murky” circumstances surrounding the Friends star’s tragic overdose death.

He added that there were serious questions about the absence of drugs or other items at the scene. “If she had been injected with a large amount of ketamine, there would have been a needle and evidence of ketamine in the house. Where did it all go?” Edwards asked.

She continued: “Why did the assistant inject him with all those drugs and leave? I always stayed with Matthew if he was on drugs because I didn’t want him to overdose or have anything happen to him. I could call 911, but why wasn’t his assistant there?”

“It was just horrendous that there was no duty of care,” Edwards said, expressing disbelief at the lack of care provided to Perry.

In a guilty plea, Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, admitted to “repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without medical training” and conspiring to distribute the ketamine that led to his death.

While Chavez, 54, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, Iwamasa, 59, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.

Plasencia pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, seven counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of falsifying documents during the investigation into Perry’s death.
