Low pressure alert, Heavy rainfall warning issued for these districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Several districts in Odisha are likely to receive heavy rainfall as a low pressure area will form today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast.

“The cyclonic circulation in the upper air layers over southern Bangladesh and surrounding areas was extending up to mid-tropospheric level at 0830 IST today, 25th August 2024. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during next 03 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to become more marked and move west-northwestwards across Ganges, West Bengal, north Odisha and Jharkhand during next 2 days,” the agency said in a bulletin issued at 2:00 pm

The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rainfall for the following districts:

August 25th

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

August 26th

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Sambalpur districts.
