Exactly when Apple will announce the special event

In a matter of weeks, the new iPhones will be on sale. Before then, Apple will reveal what they will look like and how much they will cost. That will be done at the highly anticipated presentation. Which means the first date to mark on your calendar is the presentation. Read on.

The date of the special event

To know when the keynote will be announced, we need to know when it will take place and count backwards. There have been many rumors, most centered on one date: Tuesday, September 10. Is that correct?

I’m not sure. It’s a strong possibility, but Apple likes to surprise, so it could be sooner or later. There’s no way it could be Wednesday, September 11, but I think Monday, September 9 or Thursday, September 12 are also on the horizon. Tuesday is Apple’s usual favorite date of the week, but this year it could be different, especially since a big event is taking place on the same day: the first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Apple might want to avoid that.

All of those dates will lead up to the iPhone 16 series launch date on Friday, September 20.

The announcement of Apple’s keynote is an event in itself, leading to speculation about the true meaning of the gnomic references in the invitation; I’m guessing this year the focus will be on Apple Intelligence.

The keynote lecture was made public

It could be revealed between one and two weeks before the special event. That means it could be anywhere between Monday, August 26th and Thursday, September 5th, depending on the main conference. Let’s narrow it down.

Apple never announces its keynote (or anything else, really) on Fridays, as it wants to have as much impact on the news cycle as possible. Weekends are ruled out for the same reason.

In recent years, Apple has announced its keynote earlier than planned – last year’s keynote, which was set to take place on September 12, was confirmed on Tuesday, August 29. All the rumors so far suggest that Apple is on schedule or even ahead of schedule, so I think it’s likely to be confirmed early this year. Plus, it avoids clashing with the big German tech show that starts in the first week of September.

What it means…

We might know the date of the keynote as early as Tuesday, August 27. I think that is a likely date, although Monday, August 26 and Wednesday, August 28 could also be the dates.
