Man fighting bear accidentally shoots himself in the leg

A father and son were hunting when a 1,000-pound brown bear… bear Attacked The son managed to shoot and kill the bear, but there was also a misfire when a bullet went through his leg.

“That was the hardest tackle I’ve ever taken in my life,” Tyler Johnson said in the video.

Tyler Johnson grabbed his gun and shot the bear.

But Johnson suffered a gunshot wound above the knee.

The bear bit Johnson’s other leg.

Johnson’s father, a from Alaska A state trooper who also shot the bear wrapped his son’s leg with a makeshift tourniquet and called for help using his satellite service.

Two hours later, a helicopter arrived to the rescue.

Johnson and his father, Chris Johnson, spoke to Inside Edition.

“It hit me and knocked me backwards. That’s when my feet went over my head and my knee went over my head. I think that first bullet, I’m not 100% sure, was the one that went through my leg when I shot myself,” Tyler tells Inside Edition.

Tyler, who also has bear claw scratches on his shoulder, credits his father with saving his life.

“I know how quickly you can bleed out. I put a tourniquet below the knee and above it to control the bleeding,” Chris says.
