Two sisters were arrested after shooting a man in Columbia, according to police. Here’s more information

Two sisters have been arrested after recently shooting a man, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Both Jamila Toatley, 32, and Leona Toatley, 33, have been charged with criminal conspiracy, police said.

On Aug. 18, the sisters “recklessly” shot a man at 100 Ripplemeyer Ave., according to police. That’s in the area between Two Notch Road and Farrow Road, about 2 miles from Columbia College.

Police said the man was not injured and no injuries were reported.

There was no information available about a motive for the shooting or whether the sisters knew the man before the shooting.

The sisters were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Aug. 22, where bail was set at $20,000 each, police said. Richland County court records show Jamila Toatley posted bail on Aug. 23, while Leona Toatley remains behind bars, according to jail records.

Both sisters are scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 25, court records show.

More arrests are expected in connection with the shooting, police said.

Jamila Totaley was out on bail when the shooting occurred, according to court records. On June 10, she was arrested on a charge of assault and battery by a mob that is pending, court records show. She posted $5,000 bail on June 11 in that case, according to court records.
