RUMSON – A Florida senior was arrested after David Burke pulled out a knife and struck a manager at the Red Horse restaurant in Rumson around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 22.

According to the Rumson Police Department, David Gulley, 75, of Palm Beach Shores, Florida, was arrested for aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and simple assault. He was released on a summons.

Gulley pulled out a steak knife and “lunged at the victim after an argument over wine being spilled on the victim’s wife,” according to police.

The victim had a severed finger, but he refused treatment, police said.

Chef David Burke said he was on a call with restaurant management that night.

“I think they did an excellent job,” he said. “I mean they did exactly what they should have done. They tried to cover it up and called the police.”

A video is circulating on Reddit showing a decorative red horse lamp on a wall and an employee trying to put distance between two tables. The Reddit post says the dispute escalated to “attempted murder,” but that was not the case.

Warning:The video contains extremely graphic language.

A man in white tells diners at a nearby table: “Don’t drink too much, people.”

A woman at the next table replies that it was an accident.

The man in white says, “An accident is the reason you have wine spilled all over your back.”

Then he looks at a man in blue at the next table and asks, “You have a knife in your hand.”

The man in blue lunges at the man in white as a woman screams, “No! David.”

A fight breaks out and the employees break it up.
