People have also been warned about the possibility of falling tree branches and minor landslides or mudslides in high mountainous areas due to persistent rain.
A yellow alert (moderate rainfall) has been issued for ghat sections in Kolhapur, Jalgaon and Nashik districts for the next 24 hours, while isolated places are expected to receive heavy rainfall.
Weather officials said rains and wind are likely to prevail in Sambhajinagar, Beed, Jalana and Parbhani districts in Marathwada and Vidarbha region for the next five days. “Hence, we have issued a yellow alert for several areas in these two regions for the next five days,” an official said.

A senior IMD official told TOI, “The monsoon has influenced the weather conditions in the state for the last two days. The ocean trough has strengthened from south Gujarat to south Kerala. The low-level westerly flow of the Arabian Sea along the northern parts of the west coast of the peninsula has strengthened since Friday. The situation is likely to continue for the next two to three days.”
Moreover, a well-marked low pressure zone over the Bay of Bengal has been moving westwards, the official said. “This also provides impetus to the monsoon flow, leading to sufficient moisture incursion in several regions of the state. This results in rainfall.”
