Oxford man facing charges in connection with crash death of child, 10

State police said Michael Escolas, 42, was traveling at “a high rate of speed,” in a Jeep Grand Cherokee around 8:30 pm when he rear-ended a Nissan Altima stopped at a red light near the intersection of Route 1 and Interstate 495.

Police allege that Escolas had stolen the Jeep from a parking lot at Gillette Stadium, where a concert of country singer Kenney Chesney was underway.

The Nissan he crashed into was carrying a family of six — two parents and their four children.

All six suffered serious injuries, state police said, including a 10-year-old who was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
