CMRF Scam Hyderabad: 17 hospitals face criminal charges in CMRF scam | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Criminal Investigation Department CID detectives have registered criminal cases against 17 private hospitals throughout the state for allegedly attempting to divert funds from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) by submitting falsified documents.
The scam came to light when the hospitals, mostly from Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, submitted documents to the CMRF office claiming to have treated patients. Upon verification, it was found that these documents were allegedly fake. Apart from these two districts, some of the hospitals were also located in Karimnagar, Mahabubabad and Nalgonda.
With the help of private individuals, hospital authorities created false invoices for treatments that had not been provided to patients.
According to sources, the CID has registered five criminal cases and the investigation was in its initial stages.
These private hospitals, with the help of their partners, are known to have been trying to earn lakhs of rupees illegally. In the latest scam, the bills were submitted several months ago. The accused have been charged with forgery and cheating.
Earlier, Central Crime Station sleuths had arrested four persons for their involvement in siphoning off Rs 600,000 by submitting fake documents. Two hospitals in Khammam and Nalgonda were involved in the scam.
