Officers arrest robbery suspect at Marion NC Samir’s

An arrest has been made in connection with a common-law robbery that occurred early Friday morning at a Marion convenience store.

Early Friday morning, Aug. 23, the Marion Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at Samir’s No. 4 convenience store located at 1252 Rutherford Rd. in Marion, according to a Marion Police Department news release. Law enforcement officers identified a person of interest in connection with the robbery.

That individual was Anthony Brian Redd, 22, of Marion. Redd was in Henderson County on Sunday when he decided to turn himself in, according to the release.

He contacted authorities by phone and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded and took him into custody without incident. Redd has been charged with one count of common law burglary and is currently confined in the Henderson County Detention Center under a $12,500 secured bond, according to the news release.

According to Friday’s news release, Redd walked into the store at 5:47 a.m. Friday morning and asked the clerk for money from the cash register. The clerk gave him a total of $115 from the cash register and walked out of the store.

No weapons were used in the robbery, according to the news release.

“The Marion Police Department would like to thank the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the apprehension of Redd,” Marion Police Chief Allen Lawrence said Sunday.
