19-year-old arrested for drunk driving after three-vehicle crash in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The College Station Police Department arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and causing a three-vehicle collision on Harvey Mitchell Parkway on Saturday, according to arrest records.

William Bentley Joutte of College Station was arrested at the scene of the crash.

A cellphone video of Joutte taking a sobriety test on the side of the road near Jones Crossing shows the teen struggling to maintain his balance while standing on one leg.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. and at least one witness told police it appeared Joutte was looking at her cellphone when she rear-ended another pickup truck. The pickup truck was then pushed into the vehicle in front of it.

According to his arrest report, Joutte admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash at a friend’s house. He told police that the truck in front of him caused him to brake suddenly and that is what caused the crash.

Joutte was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Bail was set at $2,000.
