Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Newsweek Magazine In an email sent on Sunday morning in response to Max Kennedy Los Angeles Times Op-ed expressing sentiments similar to Kerry Kennedy’s: “President Trump is working to save America from Comrade Kamala, and everyone should join in. That’s why so many people from all different political backgrounds have supported President Trump.”

Newsweek Magazine I reached out to the Trump campaign for updated comment via email Sunday afternoon.

Like many other members of her family, Kerry Kennedy denounced her brother’s support for Trump, saying she is “outraged and disgusted” by it. Five family members, including Kerry, released a statement Friday calling her brother’s support a “betrayal” of their family values.

Kerry Kennedy initially supported Biden, but after his exit from the race on July 21, she switched her support to Harris.

She, like her brother Max Kennedy in his op-ed published earlier today, referenced their father, Robert F. Kennedy, the late Democratic politician and human rights advocate, and his legacy in her condemnation of her brother’s endorsement.

“If my father were alive today, the real Robert Kennedy would have detested almost everything Donald Trump stands for,” he told Psaki. He had previously made similar comments on CNN yesterday.

The segment concluded with Kerry Kennedy saying, “I completely disown and disassociate myself from Robert Kennedy Jr. and his blatant and inexplicable effort to desecrate, trample and set fire to the memory of my father.”

Newsweek Magazine I also reached out to the Kennedy Jr. campaign for comment Sunday.

Meghan McCain, a political commentator and daughter of the late Republican Sen. John McCain, shared Kerry Kennedy’s statement on X on Saturday, writing, “I don’t support Trump and I will not support Trump, but this family drama playing out so publicly is really quite vulgar and beneath you all for a family that considers itself the leading American political dynasty (despite being nearly a century away from power).”
