On-street parking ban for large commercial vehicles in College Station to go into effect in October 2024

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The City of College Station will enact a new municipal ordinance in October that will prohibit commercial vehicles from parking on the streets.

The ordinance goes into effect Oct. 1 and prohibits large commercial vehicles and trailers from parking on College Station streets and alleys.

Under the ordinance, commercial vehicles or trailers cannot be parked on city streets or alleys. Exceptions include when they are engaged in authorized public works, actively loading or unloading goods or passengers or servicing nearby properties.“, the city clarified in a post on X.

These large commercial vehicles are defined as a vehicle that weighs 26,001 pounds or more.

The city said the change is intended to address safety and traffic flow concerns.
