Vandalism investigated at LGBT event space in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – An incident of vandalism at an LGBT event space in Atlanta is under investigation.

The vandalism occurred at the space for the upcoming Global Black Pride event at 188 14th Street NE, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Police said they believe an “intoxicated hotel guest” caused the damage Tuesday night.

A video sent to Atlanta News First shows tables overturned and memorabilia from the event scattered on the ground. Another video shows a pride flag being defecated on.

“At Atlanta Black Pride Weekend, we are deeply saddened by the recent incident at Global Black Pride’s Global Village. We take this matter very seriously and stand with Global Black Pride as they work with local authorities to quickly and thoroughly address the situation. We want to send our unwavering love and support to the Global Black Pride team, who we are honored to partner with for this year’s Atlanta Black Pride Weekend. Together, we will continue to uplift our community and ensure that all of our events provide a safe and welcoming environment for all,” a spokesperson said.

The event started in Atlanta on Tuesday and is supposed to last until Monday, September 2.
