Little Havana peeping tom surrenders after wife confronts him, police say

Miami – Miami police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a man they said is accused of touching himself while looking inside a home where a girl was changing clothes and two other children were present.

Alexander Perez Piloto, 38, of Hialeah, was arrested after authorities issued a security alert about the disturbing incident, which was captured on surveillance video last week in Little Havana.

According to investigators, the video shows Perez Piloto looking out the window of a home near Southwest 10th Street and Seventh Avenue at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 21.

Police said he was seen touching his penis while standing outside a four-building complex where a 6-year-old girl and two other boys (ages 8 and 10, along with a 30-year-old woman) were inside.

The girl’s father, Jose Larrynaga, who was not home at the time, said he learned of the incident when a friend called him to warn him that someone might be trying to steal his tools. Larrynaga checked his security cameras and saw the disturbing scene on his phone.

“I’m happy about the arrest and I hope the law gives him what he deserves,” Larrynaga told Local 10 News on Wednesday.

According to his arrest report, Perez Piloto told authorities he went to the Hialeah Police Department after his wife saw a video of him on the news related to the incident. He explained that while working as a Lyft driver, he had stopped to urinate in a dark residential area at the time, according to the report.

The pilot told detectives he was trying to be discreet by looking around to make sure no one saw him, authorities said.

When a light came on, he said he walked to the back of the building, sat down in a chair and continued to urinate because someone had asked about his presence. He responded by saying he lived there, investigators said.

After finishing urinating, police said Perez Pilot walked back to his car and left the premises. He later admitted that he knew he had made a mistake by entering the property, according to police.

Larrynaga thought otherwise.

“He’s not urinating,” Larrynaga told Local 10’s Liane Morejon when discussing the surveillance video. “It’s clear he’s touching himself.”

He also made a confession that was redacted in the report released publicly after he was taken into custody.

Jail records show Perez Piloto faces four counts of voyeurism and a separate charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer set bail at $9,500 for Perez Piloto, a Cuban national, during his court appearance Wednesday. He was also placed under house arrest with a GPS monitor and ordered to stay away from the victims.
