Officials say it will be used to house Gold Star children over the weekend. Children typically stay at the camp from Friday night through Sunday afternoon.

Officials say it serves as a way to reassure the children while also offering them a free way to participate in camp activities such as fishing, sailing and archery. They add that reconnecting the children with their fellow warriors is therapeutic and essential to healing.

Transportation and lodging costs for Gold Star families are fully covered.
