Mehlville girls golf team undergoes rebuilding season – St. Louis Call Newspapers

The Mehlville High School girls golf team faces a rebuilding season after several key seniors graduated.

“We have a very small team,” Mehlville head coach Steve Kress said. “Mehlville isn’t producing a lot of golfers right now, so we’ll focus on what we have after graduating some seniors last year.”

Eva Brown, one of the state’s top golfers, returns for her junior season. Brown placed second at the Missouri Class 3 state championship. As a freshman, Brown also placed second at the state tournament.

“Eva has had to face some very difficult courses this summer and she comes into this season with a lot of maturity and continues to grow as a player,” Kress said. “I think her short game will be better this year. To be honest, all facets of her game are really good.”

Joining Brown is junior Natalie Dowling.

“Natalie is coming back with some college experience,” Kress said. “She’s a hard worker and I expect her to do some good things this year.”

The Panthers open the 2024 season in the Webster Scramble on Friday at Quail Creek Golf Course.
