Prisma will maintain its headquarters in Greenville while the city plans its redevelopment

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville City Council has approved a plan to redevelop an office complex at the intersection of Falls Street and East McBee Avenue, the headquarters of South Carolina’s largest healthcare network.

The city will contribute $650,000 to the $38 million project, which will expand Prisma Health’s presence at 300 East McBee while adding more retail and a public plaza. Public improvements will include widened sidewalks, new streetlights and landscaping.

The city confirmed that STIR, a Charlotte-based home-cooked kitchen and oyster bar, will open a restaurant in the space. Officials are also in negotiations with other businesses, which could add nearly 650 full-time jobs to downtown Greenville.

“To say this is an economic driver is an understatement,” said Council Member John DeWorken. “I support anything we can do to keep Prisma Health here and happy. With more than 30,000 employees across the system, keeping this corporate headquarters in the downtown area is a catalyst for further development. I’m confident we’ll see a return on investment.”

Officials said private investment will fund most of the project.
