A 51-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a Houston Community College student on Saturday was arrested and charged with capital murder Wednesday night.

Bobby Singh Shah allegedly shot and killed 21-year-old Muna Pandey during an aggravated robbery over the weekend. Her body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment and paramedics who responded to the scene pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Houston Police Department on Wednesday released a photograph of a person suspected in Pandey’s death, taken by a surveillance camera in an apartment on the day she was killed.

Shah was located and arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop in northwest Houston in coordination with Houston Police Department SWAT officers, according to the department.

There was no defense attorney appointed for Shah as of Thursday morning.

A GoFundMe campaign seeking to raise money to cover Pandey’s funeral costs and transportation costs for his mother to travel to Houston from Nepal raised more than $15,000 on Thursday.

Pandey moved to Houston in 2021 and attended Houston Community College, according to the fundraiser.
