For the record: Next year at this time, this will be a North Coast Conference league game. But the league is still in the transitional stage, so it’s simply a non-conference game this year. … Lake got a monumental win last week by going to YSU and blanking Cardinal Mooney. Frankie Trinetti threw for 117 yards and a touchdown and DJ Sears added a late game-clinching score to lead the Cougars. But it was the defense — anchored by linebackers Luke Joy, Marty Loncar and Jimmy Gibbons — that stole the show with its shutout effort. … CVCA got a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Charley Lenak to Brayden Harris last week, but Streetsboro dominated with its running game by piling up more than 200 rushing yards on the Royals.
