Detroit’s most promising neighborhood

Detroit – Who doesn’t want to live in a city that grows and prospers?

If you’re thinking about visiting or moving to a new one, it’s helpful to know which ones attract people.

Over the summer, TravelMag highlighted Detroit’s oldest neighborhood as one of the most up-and-coming in the country.

Corktown was in the spotlight with the reopening of Michigan Central Station in June. It has since been ranked as one of the 16 “most up-and-coming neighborhoods” in the United States.

TravelMag selected one neighborhood in each destination city to compile a list of 16 up-and-coming spots out of a total of 25 on its list.

The publication looked at the number of “trendy cocktail bars, chic cafes and trendy restaurants that have popped up in recent years.” They also mentioned “LGBTQ-friendly and vegan-friendly spots.”

We can all agree, Corktown loves its historic character. Those red bricks on Michigan Ave. are in trouble after the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced a road project that puts the bricks in jeopardy.

The community launched the “Save the Bricks” campaign to ensure that when excavation begins, the red bricks are not a thing of the past.

TravelMag named The Mercury Burger and Bar, Bobcat Bonnie’s, and Brooklyn Street Local as their favorite spots in the city. Detroiters will know that these are just a few of Corktown’s most beloved restaurants and businesses.

If you haven’t noticed, the neighborhood is generating quite a stir and now we know why.
