Montgomery Central volleyball team speaks out against West Creek High

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians traveled to West Creek High School for a downtown volleyball match with the Coyotes. While West Creek battled back and won one set, the Indians dominated the other three, winning three sets to one.

Montgomery Central came out strong, communicating well, taking advantage of rebounds to win the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-18. However, West Creek responded by winning a very competitive third set by a score of 25-23. West Creek head coach Sarah Rike gave Central credit, but knows the Coyotes can be better.

“They fought back and that showed in the third set,” Rike told Clarksville Now. “We couldn’t get ahead today, we’re first in our district and we’ve been playing really well. I don’t think we’ve played like that tonight. Central put up a great fight and outplayed us today.”

Despite the third set loss, the Indians finished strong by winning the fourth set by a score of 25-13. For Montgomery Central, it’s a big win, as it always is when beating an inner-city opponent, and Indians head coach Nevaeh Strawser was very proud of her team.

“It was a great competition, the girls really worked hard and achieved their goal,” Strawser said. “I’m so proud of them, they’ve worked really hard to get here and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.”
