Paris Hilton defends herself after police criticise her for her latest move: ‘Watching like hawks’

Parenting police have once again called out Paris Hilton for water safety concerns after she failed to put a life jacket on her son Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum during a recent outing in the ocean.

On Wednesday, the 43-year-old reality star shared a TikTok video of the 1-year-old as he explored a luxury Sunreef catamaran she and husband Carter Reum chartered while vacationing in France last month.

“Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special for me! I’m so grateful to be a #SlivingMom,” Hilton wrote in the caption of the clip, which is set to Ed Sheeran’s 2014 hit song “Photograph.”

In the video, Phoenix happily walks around the catamaran in a burgundy shirt and matching shorts as the vessel cruises through the waves. The boy walked around the deck, crawled on the mesh netting above the water and yelled “Mama” as he climbed down a couple of steps.

After Hilton posted the video, several of her followers took to the comments to express their concern over the fact that Phoenix was not wearing a life jacket during the outing.

“Mom, please make him always wear a life jacket on a boat! Stuff happens. That’s why they’re called accidents. Love,” wrote one fan.

“I’m so anxious not seeing him in a life jacket! You can never be too safe in the water!” added another follower.

“Please, from one mom to another… life jacket!” one social media user chimed in.

“Walking across the net in open water terrified me,” another fan commented, adding a series of monkey emojis covering their eyes.

“I didn’t have a mini heart attack because I didn’t realize there was a net and it wasn’t just water. He’s such an adorable little guy! I’m glad he’s safe. I just woke up so…” wrote one TikTok user.

“We’re all here for life jacket advice, right? Beautiful boat, beautiful life, and it’s even safer to wear the vest,” another follower warned.

On Thursday, Hilton responded to the criticism, explaining that she and Reum had stayed close to their son while he explored the ship and that Phoenix was not in any danger during the outing.

“Hey mamas, thanks for the advice and always caring about my #CutesieCrew. It’s a big boat and my husband and I follow it everywhere and watch it like hawks. My babies are my world!” she wrote in the comments section.

Hilton and Reum, who tied the knot in November 2021, also share a 9-month-old daughter, London.

This is not the first time the media personality has faced criticism for her parenting skills.

In May, Hilton shared a TikTok video showing her playing with Phoenix in the water, but all eyes were on the safety vest that was improperly fastened backwards around her baby’s body.

As fans took to the comments section to slam Hilton for the misuse, the DJ joked, “Oops,” and she assured her fans that she had full control over the situation.

“Hey mom. Just a tip from another puddle jumping mom. I think it’s backwards. But I love this video. It’s pure joy,” wrote one fan.

The “Simple Life” star responded to the social media user: “Oops! Thank you! I never let it out of my arms. I also thought it was backwards, I told the person I bought it from and they said it was fine. But thank you so much for letting me know.”

Earlier that month, Hilton faced intense criticism after posting a video of her children improperly restrained in forward-facing car seats.

However, Hilton later shared an updated post to reassure her fans that she had taken their advice to heart.

In a TikTok video, Hilton showed off her revamped “Sliving Mom Van” with her “crew of beauties,” which included Phoenix and London.

The socialite’s children were now properly rear-facing and buckled up correctly.

“Thanks for the advice mom, I’m new to this,” Hilton wrote.

Hilton and Reum announced the birth of their child by surrogacy in February 2023. Last Thanksgiving, the couple revealed that they also welcomed a daughter with the help of a surrogate.

Before welcoming Phoenix, Hilton exclusively told Fox News Digital that she “can’t wait” to finally become a mother.

“We talk about it every day,” she said of her conversations with Reum. “I’m trying to find time in my schedule because I have a lot of projects going on and I just launched my media company, 11:11 Media. So there’s a lot going on, but that’s definitely one of my top priorities.”
