Florida man ziplines in Ocala

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – In this installment of Florida Man Adventures we find ourselves in beautiful Ocala at Canyons Zipline and Adventure Park. After gearing up, we take a UTV ride to the zipline course. I’m given a brief safety tutorial and then allowed to warm up on the beginner line. After proving my zipline proficiency, we ascend into the treetops and hit the road. The rocky landscape of an old quarry means there’s plenty to see as we fly over the property, and the guides love sharing the unique setting with guests.

“When you think of Florida, you don’t think of canyons, you don’t think of mountains or anything like that. So to be able to bring people here and give them a new perspective and see Florida is really nice. It brings a new element to it, you know, there’s not a lot of places that have canyons, especially in Florida,” said TJ Jones.

With twelve ziplines spanning the entire property, you can see everything in the park. Guides work in pairs, so you’ll always have someone in front of you and behind you. Safety is the canyon’s top priority.

“The most important thing here is that we do the zipping and you do the zipping. As far as security goes, we’ll be zipping and making sure everything is okay. We always do a security check, checking and making sure everything is closed and in good order. We try to keep everyone here as safe as possible. That’s our number one goal and priority here, to keep people safe.”

Not only is there ziplining at Canyons, but there’s also kayaking, horseback riding, and my favorite activity, gem mining. For over a decade, Canyons Zipline and Adventure Park has thrilled thousands of visitors and helped create incredible memories.
