Bodycam video shows boy alone while mother undergoes cosmetic surgery – NBC 6 South Florida

New video shows the moment Doral police officers found a 3-year-old boy alone outside an apartment complex while his mother underwent cosmetic surgery.

Jessica Renteria’s arrest occurred in late June after numerous neighbors shared their concerns about seeing her son alone and unsupervised.

Body camera video from June 27 shows Doral Police arriving at a complex near Northwest 104th Avenue after calls from neighbors.

The video shows one officer telling another officer: “That’s the kid, but the neighbors don’t know who he is.”

Arrest documents state that a neighbor found the 3-year-old boy outside his door. An officer asks, “Was he sleeping?”

The neighbor says: “Yes.”

Another neighbor had been watching him. An officer told another Doral police officer what the neighbor had said: “It’s been an hour.”

The officers ask the boy: “Do you know where you live? Do you know where mommy and daddy are?”

Police are then seen knocking on doors. Arrest reports indicate they discovered the child was staying at an Airbnb. Arrest records also indicate the child was wandering outside for approximately six hours.

“Do you know any family with a missing child?” the police ask the neighbors.

The girl’s mother, from Daytona Beach, is seen in the body camera video in handcuffs. That was after she dropped her daughter off for cosmetic surgery.

Arrest documents indicate she claimed a friend was supposed to babysit her child, but that friend told police she was never told to babysit the child.

In June, in bond court, Renteria was visibly emotional as she faced child neglect charges. The judge told her that supervision rights were in the hands of DCF.
