WITHOUT EU — A Euless woman who is accused of Attempting to drown a three-year-old Muslim girl in May He has been indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury on charges including attempted capital murder.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the girl’s mother is not ready to speak publicly but is happy to see this.

CAIR Texas said what happened to her two young children at the pool at her apartment complex will traumatize them forever.

“She was watching them from outside when a lady came up to the pool area and asked her some questions like, ‘Where are you from? Why don’t you speak English with your kids?'” said Shaimaa Zayan of CAIR-Austin.

Zayan said the interaction turned violent.

“She jumped into the pool and tried to pull out her son, who is bigger and heavier, and was able to escape, but then she pulled the little girl into the deep end of the pool and stuck her face in the water in an attempt to drown her,” he said.

He said a good Samaritan intervened to save the three-year-old girl.

Now, recently obtained court documents show that Elizabeth Wolf, 42, has been charged with attempted capital murder and corporal injury to a child under the age of 15. This also includes a hate crime enhancement.

Zayan met with the family over the weekend.

“They are happy and hopeful, hoping that justice will be served in the end,” he said. “We hope to see the highest level of punishment.”

They are grateful for all the support they have received. President Joe Biden condemned the attack on social media this summer. Texas state Rep. Salman Bhojani also weighed in.

“I have experienced moments of hate myself,” Bhojani said. “This is not the first incident and my goal is always to fight hate of any kind, because hate against one person or group is hate against all of us. I am grateful that the grand jury held Wolf accountable for this act.”

CBS News Texas reached out to Wolf’s attorney for comment but did not receive a response.
