Rain is expected to end the week with a sharp drop in temperatures

LANSING, Mich. — We started the week with temperatures near 70 degrees in our neighborhoods and they are expected to return to normal this afternoon. We are looking for highs near 70 degrees across central Michigan. This is due to the southerly flow convection bringing warmer temperatures and the clear skies we are seeing. It should be a nice day to get outside.

We are tracking a cold front that will pass through our neighborhoods overnight Thursday into Friday, bringing showers and a possible thunderstorm as precipitation continues into Friday night. There is some unsettled weather, but not enough. We will keep an eye on this system as the week progresses.

With this, we will also see a temperature drop on Friday into the 70s. However, Saturday looks to be the coldest day of our 7-day as highs are expected to only reach the mid-60s. If we see the 60s reached, we could see a record tie for the lowest high temperature for September 7th in Lansing. Rollercoaster temperatures are normal for this time of year in Michigan as we are now in meteorological fall and just a few weeks into astronomical fall.
