Anthonie Knapp praises Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman

Notre Dame offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp (54) on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the annual Notre Dame Blue-Gold spring football game at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend.

It takes a lot for a head coach to trust a truly rookie left tackle as a starter, but that’s exactly the case with Notre Dame’s (autotag)Marcus Freeman(/autotag) and (autotag)Anthonie Knapp(/autotag).

The Georgia native arrived on campus without much fanfare, but quickly made a name for himself. After his first start in a hostile environment at Texas A&M, Knapp earned very high grades according to Pro Football Focus metrics.

What’s most impressive is his mindset, as you have to have a great mindset to have early success at any school, but that’s not all, you have to have a coach that instills confidence in you, which Knapp explained Freeman does.

The term “player-coach” certainly applies to Freeman, who has done a great job of getting the best out of his team. Previously, results have not been the best, but that trend seems to be changing in 2024.
