Man arrested after crashing stolen vehicle and fleeing police

MOSSY HEAD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A DeFuniak man is under arrest after fleeing from police. This happened after he crashed a stolen vehicle.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, 32-year-old Dillon Grimes, was seen driving a stolen vehicle in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, at a local Love’s Travel stop.

When officers attempted to stop him, the man fled the scene and drove at high speed to get away from authorities. Grimes crashed the vehicle near East Lakespur and drove into nearby woods.

With the help of other law enforcement agencies, dogs and drones, authorities located the man.

At the time of his arrest, Grimes had an active warrant for manufacturing methamphetamine. He is currently in the Walton County Jail on pending charges.
