Donald Trump says Barron Trump will attend New York University’s Stern Business School

Barron Trump was spotted arriving at New York University in Manhattan on Wednesday, September 4, following months of speculation about the former first son’s college choice.

Barron’s father, former President Donald Trump, joked about the The New York Post in August that his youngest son had decided to attend a “good” school in New York, although he did not specify which one.

On September 4, Donald confirmed that Daily Mail that Barron, 18, would attend New York University’s Stern School of Business. “He got accepted to a lot of colleges,” Donald told the outlet. “He’s a very smart guy.”

Barron graduated from Oxbridge Academy on May 17. His father Donald, mother Melania Trump and grandfather Viktor Knavs attended the exclusive ceremony in West Palm Beach.

She transferred to Oxbridge after her family left the White House in 2021. Before that, she had attended several other prestigious schools, including Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City and St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland.

Donald confirmed during a radio interview in Philadelphia in May that his youngest son planned to continue his education, but in the months after earning his high school diploma, Barron kept his list of college candidates a secret.

A source told PEOPLE in the spring that Melania was keeping her son close as he pondered his future plans.

“Melania will continue to be in the loop on Barron’s future, as she has been throughout his early school years and now,” the source said. “He is her world. She is proud of him and is ultimately responsible for decisions regarding Barron and his future.”

Earlier this year, Barron turned down an opportunity to serve as Florida’s delegate-at-large to the Republican National Convention, citing “prior commitments” in a statement made by his mother.

“While Barron is honored to have been selected as a delegate for the Florida Republican Party, he regrettably declines to participate due to prior commitments,” Melania said in the statement.

The convention was held from July 15-18 in Milwaukee, and Trump’s youngest son did not attend, making him the only one of the Republican presidential nominee’s five children not to attend the event. However, just before the Republican National Convention, Barron made his first appearance at a campaign rally for his father.
