First Warn’s forecast is for sunny and warmer weather, with highs of 85 degrees.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s at sunrise this morning, near 80 degrees by midday and highs between 85 and 87 degrees around 4 p.m.

As storm systems develop in the West, we see a cold front forming allowing for more heat and moisture to build up for Thursday. Scattered showers are expected mid-afternoon across our northwest counties between 4 and 6 p.m. Scattered showers are possible within the metro area along with isolated thunderstorms northeast of the city. There are signs of heavy showers and thunderstorms between 8 and 10 p.m.

There may be a first warning on Thursday, not necessarily for severe storm activity, but for its impact on any outdoor plans, especially if you’re going to the game at Arrowhead or the K.

Once this front passes early Friday morning, temperatures will drop dramatically. We expect temperatures in the 80s to 90s on Thursday, but Friday temperatures will drop to around 75 degrees by Saturday afternoon, with highs in the mid-70s.

Sunday morning looks like temperatures will drop into the 40s, which may bring a wind chill for many of us. During this time, skies will likely be mostly clear with partly cloudy conditions returning to begin the upcoming school week. Temperatures will also begin to recover with temperatures expected in the mid-80s and lows expected on Monday and mid-80s and highs expected on Tuesday.
