One dead after collision between a tractor and a truck

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A man driving a tractor died after a fatal crash near Selma on Monday.

The Fresno Area CHP says they received a call at 8:15 p.m. Monday about an injury collision involving a farm tractor and a pickup truck on Floral Avenue west of Temperance Avenue.

Officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Initial reports indicate an adult male was driving a tractor east on Floral toward Temperance.

The tractor had its taillights on.

A Toyota Tacoma driven by an adult male was traveling east on Floral approaching the rear of the tractor-trailer.

CHP says the driver of the Toyota did not see the tractor-trailer in advance and crashed into the rear of it.

The impact threw the man driving the tractor onto the shoulder, causing serious injuries.

The tractor driver was taken to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the investigation.

The CHP says alcohol or drug use is not suspected to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
