Resource Center event scheduled at Delta College

San Joaquin Delta College will be the host site for a Saturday, Sept. 7 community event featuring keynote speaker Dr. Anitra Williams of St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

Family Resource Center (FRC) is putting on the program, “Becoming You.” This event will provide opportunities for young parents to spend some time thinking about their goals, and learn about available resources in childcare, education, job opportunities, and healthcare options to support them with those goals. The day will be filled with introductions to resources with a message from Dr. Anitra Williams, who faced family challenges and overcame them.

Williams is a mother of two and married to her high school sweetheart of 30 years. She began her nursing career at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in 1999 where she worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse, and then in various leadership roles, until finally assuming the role as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.

“Becoming You,” a free event for all participants, will run from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Danner Hall on the Delta College campus. A boxed lunch will be provided at no charge for pre-registered attendees.

Local organizations will also be in attendance with informational tables at the event to provide information about their services. For more information on attending the event, visit frcsj.org.

Family Resource Center is committed to the health and well-being of children in San Joaquin County, and the adults who care for them. Serving the community since 1980, FRC’s mission is to provide resources to parents and childcare providers to encourage healthy growth for the children in their care. That’s done through advocacy, information, education, nutritional support, training, and childcare services – directly and by financially supporting community childcare providers – so that every child, and parent, has access to safe and stimulating care outside the home. Family Resource Center is the designated service provider for 211 information and referral services for San Joaquin County. Through this service, increased access to information such as childcare, nutritional services and over 4,000 other resources are available to new and current residents.
