North Platte Community College job fair offers resources for college students

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – North Platte Community College hosted a job fair for students seeking employment Wednesday morning.

About 29 employers from North Platte and the university attended the fair.

According to Career Services Director Amy Sabatka, this step is important for students seeking a job related to their field.

“It’s an opportunity for businesses and community members to connect with our students. They let them know what types of services they offer and let them know about part-time jobs that are available,” Sabatka said.

Proteus Regional Director Jody Stutzman explained that the job fair not only helps students find jobs, but also helps companies fill vacancies.

“It’s important to us,” Stutzman said. “We help people who have completed agricultural studies to be able to take jobs in the community. We provide them with tools wherever they need to be successful in their training. That way we can fill high-wage, high-skill, high-demand jobs in the area,” Stutzman said.

Students who attended the fair explained how important this is to them.

“It’s important to get out and see what it has to offer besides college,” said student Trinity Beutler.

“I think it’s a good opportunity for the career I want to pursue and finding a job in my field,” said student Nya Loa.

Students who attended the job fair were also able to enter their names to win prizes and collect souvenirs from each organization.
