United by their passion for beauty, three millennials who were close friends since high school – Liz Tan, Jhomel Tiu and John Louie Kiocho – embarked on a transformative journey. Their shared love of exploring international and local beauty brands led them to come up with an idea where all their favourites would come together under one roof. They have dreamt of hosting a beauty event with vibrant salons and a plethora of beauty enthusiasts, from all walks of life, all ages, all genders, consumers and even entrepreneurial individuals who enjoy and engage in all things beauty as one united community.

Last year in September 2023, the first-ever BeauCon Manila was held at Hall 3 of SM Megatrade. With just a handful of team members to pull it off, they were able to bring together over 30 local brands online while over 5,000 visitors witnessed and experienced their favorite brands, celebrities, and influencers with a reach and engagement of millions across various social media platforms.

This year, BeauCon Manila will mark another beautiful story by showcasing over 70 conventional and digital beauty brands, united in one exhibition, together with one vision.

UNITED BRANDS: Taking Filipino beauty to the next level

Born out of the collective enthusiasm and shared experiences of the founding team, BeauCon Manila is an exhibition dedicated to celebrating the diversity and richness of Filipino culture. It serves as a platform where beauty brands converge to showcase their innovations, their inspiring stories, their winning moments, ALL PROUD AND FASHIONABLE to connect with an ever-widening audience, while providing a space for everyone to succeed and shine.

At the heart of BeauCon Manila is the passionate mission to elevate and amplify the Philippine beauty industry and champion inclusion, diversity, and a deep appreciation for the art, creativity, and craftsmanship behind Philippine beauty brands.

Last July 24 in Quezon City, in fact, an iconic event took place when BeauCon Manila, together with CEOs of the top and most popular beauty brands, beauty experts and influencers, and friends from the press, literally came together to take a stand: to take the Filipino beauty community to the next level!

The first segment introduces the wonderful minds behind BeauCon Manila:

The second segment titled, ‘A TESTIMONY THAT THE PHILIPPINE BEAUTY INDUSTRY TRANSCENDS TO THE NEXT LEVEL Recognizes beauty experts in the Philippine beauty industry. The panel included beauty influencers who have been in the industry for over 5 years. Here, they shared their insights and knowledge on how the beauty industry has evolved from the time they started blogging for beauty brands.

MJ GARCIA PEREZ: Beauty blogger, founder of VanityFriends, the largest skincare community on Facebook here in the Philippines, which has over 150,000 active members and followers. 10 years in the beauty blogging industry, started through www.vanityroomph.com since 2014

MARTA STA. BARBARA: Content creator of The Beauty Junkee, for 15 years he has specialized in beauty and lifestyle content and aims to empower consumers one review at a time.

Finally, the last and highly anticipated segment ‘‘Pioneers in the Philippine beauty industry’ Featuring beauty CEOs from the local beauty community.

The pandemic may have left a lasting wound that has changed the world forever. It has left unpleasant memories in the history of humanity, but, on the positive side of things, beautiful things have also emerged.

It drove tremendous growth in the e-commerce industry and exponentially changed the market’s purchasing behaviors. In a series of unprecedented events, local beauty brands grew and flourished giving birth to BEAUTY CEOs – local beauty moguls, local beauty REVOLUTIONARIES, local beauty ICONS!

RIZZA WOOL SebastianCEO & Founder of Mink PH

Rizza is a serial entrepreneur who co-owns 11 brands across 9 different industries that focus on conscious products and services that care for you and the planet. Some of them are skincare and bodycare brands: Lana and Mink PH.

Mink PH, one of its cult brands, is a line specialized in intimate skin care that aims to provide care solutions to common body needs and problems.

SARAH VIDI-PAYNO-MERCADO – CEO, Queen White Skincare Products

Founded in March 2018, Sarah Vidi Payno-Mercado, a native of Binan, Laguna, started out as a convenience store branch manager with a dream of offering high-quality and effective skincare products at affordable prices. She also aims to provide a source of income to thousands of Filipinos nationwide with her distribution business model. Her Queen White brand now houses over 1,500 Kwinderas (Queen White distributors and resellers).

JOHANNA VALERIO – Marketing Director, Yo Joe Health and Beauty (Yo Joe) representing Ms. Jhoana Erica Fuster, owner of the brand

Founded in December 2023, Yo Joe Health and Beauty is dedicated to providing health and beauty solutions that promote holistic wellness and empower people to embrace their natural beauty. Through their innovative products, they strive to inspire confidence and foster a community where self-care is celebrated.

JUNGIE GUMIRAN – CEO, JUJU Health & Wellness (JUJU Collagen Products)

JUJU is a company founded in 2020 during the pandemic. It is a personal care brand created by an entrepreneur, Jungie Gumiran. As a busy entrepreneur, he finds it difficult to stick to a skincare routine. The brand’s goal is to create products and supplements that work for busy entrepreneurs like him.

The four beauty CEOs at the press launch (L to R: Rizza, Sarah, Joyce and Jungie) shared their humble beginnings, their struggles as brand owners, their business mantra, milestones and achievements, and even bravely answered some fun and witty game show questions.

They were not present at the event due to weather conditions, but gave their full support to BeauCon Manila:

Anna Magkawas – CEO and Founder of Luxe Beauty and Wellness Group

Anna Magkawas, who came from the business of selling luxury handbags, ventured into the health and wellness industry during the pandemic. Now, her Luxe Group of companies houses three brands: Luxe Skin, Luxe Slim and Luxe Cosmetics.

MARIA RIZELLE RUGAY-VILLANUEVA (Mrs. Mariz Villanueva) – Executive Director, Marketing of Vielka Soaps and Detergents (WOW GLOW)

Wow Glow brand started its journey earlier this year, a dynamic skincare brand based in Malabon, specializing in a wide range of skincare products. They have recently launched more products such as soaps, lotions and sunscreens, each meticulously developed and formulated to enhance and protect the skin.

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WITH BEAUTIFUL STORIES: The event concluded with a Q&A session of all the invited panelists. It was truly an iconic gathering of beautiful minds with an inspiring motivation that seeks to raise the bar of the Philippine beauty industry.

THE MAIN EVENT.

To further push the boundaries of Filipino brands’ capabilities, BeauCon Manila has partnered with Locad, a logistics engine company that helps e-commerce brands grow their omnichannel business and automatically store, pack, ship and track orders across Asia Pacific, with more locations opening soon.

Throughout the expo, visitors will be treated to a captivating display of beauty, each infused with the distinctive and ICONIC essence of Filipino heritage and ingenuity – from clever and catchy brand names, unique and on-trend formulas, to smart and on-trend marketing tricks and strategies that push the boundaries of beauty product selling. BeauCon Manila is undoubtedly an immersive and must-attend experience that resonates with consumers and industry professionals alike.
