Man charged with stabbing and killing roommate in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Greenwood Police Department said a man has been charged after stabbing his roommate Thursday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to an apartment complex on Cokesbury Street for a stabbing at 6:51 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Demetrous Childs, 43, with a stab wound to the chest.

Officials said first responders provided medical assistance to Childs, who ultimately died from his injuries.

During the initial investigation, officers said they learned that Childs and the suspect were roommates and had gotten into an altercation. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Childs.

The suspect was identified as Charlie Mon’Ta Adams, 43.

The department said Adams has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
