LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)—Lexington city leaders will hold a forum Thursday morning to address issues with short-term rentals.

Community members say short-term rentals, like those on Airbnb, make neighborhoods less attractive to people who live there full-time.

Discussions also revolve around affordable housing: Community members say short-term rentals take away housing that people in need could use.

The forum comes a week after a committee advanced plans to change occupancy and proximity regulations on rentals.

Officials estimate there are about 1,000 short-term rentals in Lexington alone. In the Kenwick area, there are 12 on the same street.

The forum will be held at Copper Roux and will begin at 7:30 am.
