Kansas City police fear more victims after man charged with child sex crimes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City man has been charged after prosecutors accused him of child sex crimes. Detectives say they are concerned there may be more victims.

Prosecutors charged Wesley McGlothlen with attempted child abduction, sexual misconduct and assault.

Police began investigating a report involving McGlothen on Aug. 9. Information provided by the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office showed McGlothlen allegedly told the 5-year-old boy that he had a dog and used the promise to lure the boy to his home.

Documents show McGlothlen allegedly abused the boy inside the residence.

Less than a month later, prosecutors said officers learned of another possible victim. The girl told investigators McGlothlen asked her if she wanted chocolate. She then said McGlothlen pushed her into the residence and tried to lock the door. Prosecutors said the girl screamed before running away.

Information provided by investigators shows McGlothlen allegedly admitted to “doing things” with children for six months prior to his arrest.

McGlothlen is being held without bail.
