Xavier Worthy has arrived.

The Kansas City Chiefs rookie receiver recorded two touchdowns in just over three quarters during his NFL regular-season debut Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, scoring a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and a long receiving score early in the fourth.

At that point, he had two touchdowns on just three touches.

The fact that he was at all on the Chiefs seems awfully surprising in retrospect, given that Kansas City has ended the Buffalo Bills’ season in three of the past four years during the playoffs. That made Buffalo’s decision to trade the Chiefs the No. 28 overall pick in the first round, along with a fourth-round pick, for the No. 32 overall pick and a third-round pick a bit puzzling.

The Chiefs, of course, used the pick to select Worthy, and it didn’t take long for fans to turn his early success into an opportunity to mock the Bills:

Worthy might be a bit of a stretch for fantasy players, though. Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, and Marquise Brown (once he returns from injury) are all much more likely to get consistent targets. However, Worthy’s ability to turn the targets he does get into big plays will keep him in the flex conversation all season long.

Speaking of Rice, he was Mahomes’ primary target that night and certainly looked like a potential WR2 in PPR leagues going forward. Assuming he remains eligible to play the entire season, he could be primed for a breakout year.

The other big fantasy star of the night was Baltimore tight end Isaiah Likely, who might have surpassed Mark Andrews as the top receiving option at tight end for the Ravens. At press time, Likely had six receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown, compared to just one reception for 11 yards for Andrews.

The risk in starting either player in a given week is the possibility that the other will be Lamar Jackson’s primary option in that matchup. Andrews has long been one of Jackson’s most trusted targets; he’ll have a big role in this offense. But Likely is a key player and is going to take away targets.

It’s entirely possible that the back-and-forth between the two could limit each to low-end TE1 status, or even an outright TE2 designation. At the very least, though, it’s important to factor Likely into your lineup each week — he was incredible on Thursday.
