Lincoln man arrested for stealing neighbor’s TV and medications, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A Lincoln man is in custody, accused of stealing his neighbor’s television, electronic equipment and medications.

Alexander Banner, 37, was arrested Wednesday by Lincoln police following a report of a burglary at an apartment at 14th and B streets. The victim reported he left for work around 6:30 p.m. and discovered the burglary when he returned shortly after 4 a.m.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim reported that her television, a boat speaker, a receiver, a sound bar and prescription medications including Xanax and Adderall were missing.

The victim had left these items in her living room while she was preparing to move and the door was unlocked.

The victim told officers about a strange encounter with Banner that same day, where Banner asked her for money.

When officers arrived at the apartment, which belongs to Banner’s girlfriend, she answered the door and said she knew nothing about the robbery. However, during the search, police found some of the stolen items and discovered Banner hiding in a closet.

Banner was charged with robbery. His bail was set at 10% of $30,000.

His next court hearing is scheduled for October 3 at 10 a.m.
