Two home soccer games and two volleyball games played in Watertown

WATERTOWN — A packed night of high school sports in Watertown included two soccer games and two volleyball matches.

Watertown High School teams split South Dakota Eastern Conference games against Harrisburg at Allen Mitchell Field. Harrisburg broke a scoreless battle with three second-half goals to win the girls game 3-0. Harrisburg led the boys game 1-0 at halftime before Watertown scored five times in the second half for a 5-1 victory.

At Civic Arena, the Watertown High School volleyball team swept Brookings 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-15). At Great Plains Lutheran, the host Panthers also won 3-0 (25-5, 25-13, 25-15) against Tri-State.

Volleyball

  • City of Watertown 3, Brookings 0 — With assistant coach Kelly Kettwig filling in for Rosemary Bellum, who was attending her husband Mark’s induction ceremony into the Columbus (Neb.) Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame, the Arrows (4-3) swept the field. Watertown leaders included Emery Thury, 13-for-13 in serving with 13 kills and 10 digs; Kynslee Johnson, 16-for-16 in serving; Emma Hendricks, 15-for-17 in serving; Anna Hirtz, 13 kills; Madisyn Grimsrud, eight kills, two solo blocks and one block assist; Grace Corey, 29 assists, eight digs and two block assists; and Natalie Pearson, 15 digs.
  • Great Plains Lutheran Church 3, Tri-State 0 — Abby Kjenstad (four aces, eight kills and six digs), Kaitlyn Rawerts (three aces and nine assists), Madeline Prahl (11 assists), Esta Cameron (five kills) and Jolie Lien (14 digs) led the Panthers (3-1).
  • Redfield 3, Deuel 0 — Hayden Gall had 12 assists, Charli Jungwirth seven kills and seven digs, Cecilia Suchor seven kills and Kinsley Smith seven digs for the Pheasants in a 25-12, 25-12, 25-22 win. Kayden Russell had six assists and 11 digs, Emma Sattler four kills and Addison Timmons 16 digs for Deuel.
  • Hamlin 3, Flandreau 0 — The Chargers won 25-6, 25-17 and 25-11. Issie Steffensen had three aces and 31 assists, Addie Neuendorf had 14 kills and nine digs, Addie Steffensen 10 kills, Jayci Trowbridge 12 digs and Jo Steffensen three aces, eight kills and 14 digs. Aly Schepel had seven assists, Sadie Iott five kills and 14 digs and Morgan Kontz 10 digs for Flandreau.

  • Colman-Egan 3, De Smet 1 — The Hawks rallied to win 14-25, 29-27, 25-14 and 25-20. Byrnlee Landis led the way with 16 kills and 16 digs. Finley Luze chipped in with 18 assists, Presley Luze with 15 digs, Kaylee Voelker with 16 assists and Elaina Rohde with 11 kills. De Smet leaders included Hazel Luethmers, 21 kills, 13 digs and four solo assists and two blocks; Megan Dylla, 28 assists and 16 digs; and Mirra Beck, eight kills and nine digs.
  • Northwest 3, Langford Area 0 — The Wildcats won 25-5, 25-11 and 25-3. Ella Boekelheide had 23 assists and four aces, Ashley Haven 10 kills, Anna Brumfield seven kills and five digs, Taylor Vetter seven kills, Breelyn Satter six kills and Tara Blachford 10 digs for Northwestern.
  • Estelline-Hendricks 3, Wilmot 0 — The Redhawks won 25-16, 27-25 and 25-20 behind 13 kills from Brooke Johnson, nine kills and 19 digs from Allie Duenwald, 15 assists from Cambry Bury and 20 assists, three aces and 24 digs from Presly Bury.
  • Lake Clark-Willow 3, Milbank 1 — The Cyclones won the match 23-25, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-23. Shay Michalski led the match with 20 kills and Zoe Nichols added nine kills, Sami Brenden 34 assists, Kate Larson 29 digs and Zoey Helkenn 13 digs. Ella Sandvig added four aces and 17 digs, Claire Snaza 10 kills and five block assists, Isabella Anderson six kills, Sierra Wenzl five kills and 17 digs, Addisyn Krause 12 assists and Rylee Scoular eight assists for Milbank.
  • Warner 3, Leola-Frederick Area 0 — Warner won 25-9, 25-8 and 25-13. Kyleigh Schopp had 14 kills, Libby Scepaniak 19 assists, Reagan Wood 11 assists and Jordyn Jensen 16 digs. Jill Ellwein had 33 digs and Kalyce Achen 22 for LFA.

  • Mobridge-Pollock 3, Potter County 0 — The Tigers won 25-14, 25-23 and 25-13 behind 16 kills and nine digs from Charley Henderson and 10 kills and four aces from Raelyn Aberle. Sophia Overland added 19 assists, Ellie Kemnitz 18 assists, Jacy Netterville 13 digs and Teagan Konold 12. Zoe Meinke’s seven kills, Dannika Kaup’s seven assists and Alyssa Kaup’s 17 digs paced PC.
  • Castlewood 3, Deubrook Area 1 — The Warriors won 25-23, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-22. Emerson Carter had 23 kills and 11 digs, Claire Horn eight kills and 16 digs, Lilly Jacobsen seven kills, Nora Solberg 12 digs and Cassidy Kirwan four aces, eight kills and 24 digs. Zoey Molengraaf (14 kills and three blocks), Mataya Gouws (10 kills), Matte Bauman (33 assists) and Carly Engelstad and Kylee Johnson (14 digs each) led the Deubrook area.
  • Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 0 — The Elks won 25-13, 25-17 and 25-16 behind four aces from Abbie Timm, 26 assists from Malyha Stegers, 10 kills from Andrea Renkly and 13 digs from Charlie Thooft.

Soccer

Third-place Arrow’s boys improved to 7-0-1 on the season behind second-half goals from Riley Fischer, Patrick Bednarczyk, Braxten Endres, Carson Schlaht and Dawson Hartman. Fischer, Bednarczyk and Endres also had assists and goalie Owen Muller made three saves.

The Watertown girls (2-6) battled second-ranked Harrisburg (7-0) through a sluggish first half before the Tigers pulled away with goals from Lily Hirsch, Haley Rutten and Taylor Syverson. Goalie Madison Enstad made 19 saves for the Arrows.
