Houston Police SWAT officers, detectives and dozens of Texas Equusearch volunteers were at a Sage Road townhome community Thursday searching for 40-year-old Robert Bond, who went missing in June 2024.

Bond was staying with Houston lawyer Sean Kennedy and Kennedy’s wife.

Sean Kennedy told FOX 26 that Bond was a stranger when they met him in May 2024 through the Kennedys’ rental home repair business.

Kennedy says that after a month, he and his wife told Bond that he had to move and that’s when Bond disappeared.

“No one has heard from him since. No friends, no relatives, no one. I’m so worried. It’s been almost three months and we have no answers,” said Bond’s mother, Cindy Splater.

“He was being nice to a man that he didn’t know. My wife and I opened our front door to him, and now he’s gone, and I’ve got the SWAT team on our front lawn. They broke into our front door and dragged us out of bed. They’re searching the house now, and we’re cooperating with them,” says Sean Kennedy. “Our only intention when we met Robert Bond was to be good Samaritans, to show him a little charity… He became very unpleasant to be around. When he asked us for money, that’s when I told him enough was enough. He needed to find somewhere else to live… He didn’t say where he was going or what he was doing. He was upset, obviously, and he left our neighborhood, and we haven’t seen or heard from him since.”

FOX 26 Houston is now on the FOX LOCAL app available through Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV, Samsung TV and Vizio!

“I never thought something like this would happen to us as a family. It’s very emotional. I mean it’s like a roller coaster. You go from hope to hopelessness and trying to be brave,” Splater said.

“It’s so hard and there’s nothing you can do. We’ve done everything we know how. It’s like being in a nightmare, except you’re awake,” says Bond’s aunt, Liz Webb.

The family fears “something bad has happened, something very bad. He would never leave without calling,” said Bond’s sister, Rose Bond.

“My necklace was a Mother’s Day gift from Robert about ten years ago. It’s very special, especially now. I wear it all the time,” Splater says.

It is not yet known what HPD homicide detectives discovered in Thursday’s search. We do know that Sean Kennedy and his wife, Alle Kennedy, were arrested.

He is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She is charged with credit card abuse and possession of fraudulent information.
